Want a real person to look at this with you?

What changes when you share with Sarah

CDR protections do not extend to data shared outside the CDR-accredited environment.

When you nominate Sarah as your Trusted Adviser, the data you share with her leaves the CDR system. From that point on, what Sarah does with it is governed by the Privacy Act (Australian Privacy Principles 6 and 11), not by the CDR Privacy Safeguards. Sarah's organisation (NDH) has its own data handling policies — we've reviewed them and consider them strong, but the legal regime is different.

What stays the same: your data is still subject to the Privacy Act. NDH counsellors are bound by the Financial Counselling Industry Code of Ethics. Sarah cannot share your data with Westpac, with Fairgo, or with anyone else without your explicit further consent.

What this means for you

  • Sarah can use what you share to advise you, draft letters on your behalf, and represent you at AFCA. That's the point of nominating her.
  • Sarah cannot sell or commercially share your data. NDH is a not-for-profit funded by FCIF.
  • If you ever want to revoke Sarah's access, you can do that anytime in Settings → Trusted Adviser.
